Renuka Ray became a Gandhian and a nationalist at sixteen when she met Mahatma Gandhi at the house of her uncle, Chittaranjan Das, in Calcutta. Aside from her political career, she was a well-known pioneering social worker, and a former president of the All India Women's Conference.
Surabhi Chopra is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law, Chinese University of Hong Kong. She researches transitional justice, national security and the rights of the poor.
Nausheen Jaffery was a historian trained at the University of Delhi and Jamia Millia Islamia. Her book Jahan Ara Begum: A Biographical Study (1614–1681) was published in 2011.
