हिंदी साहित्य में रवींद्र कालिया की ख्याति उपन्यासकार, कहानीकार और संस्मरण लेखक के अलावा एक ऐसे बेहतरीन संपादक के रूप में है, जो मृतप्राय: पत्रिकाओं में भी जान फूंक देते हैं। रवींद्र कालिया हिंदी के उन गिने-चुने संपादकों में से एक हैं, जिन्हें पाठकों की नब्ज़ और बाज़ार का खेल दोनों का पता है। 11 नवम्बर, 1939 को जालंधर में जन्मे रवीन्द्र कालिया हाल ही में भारतीय ज्ञानपीठ के निदेशक पद से सेवानिवृत्त हुए हैं, उन्होंने ‘नया ज्ञानोदय’ के संपादन का दायित्व संभालते ही उसे हिंदी साहित्य की अनिवार्य पत्रिका बना दिया।
